Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Mixture Chat or Mix Chat ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data when you use our services. This policy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), and other relevant international data protection regulations.

1. DATA CONTROLLER

We act as the data controller for the processing of your personal data.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

Required Information (during registration):

  • First Name and Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Password

Optional Information (if the user provides):

  • Profile Photo
  • Album Photos
  • Bio
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Interests

Automatically Collected Data:

  • IP Address
  • Device Information (model, OS, etc.)
  • Last Active Timestamp
  • Usage Logs

Content You Share:

  • Messages and photos you send in conversations
  • Reports you submit about other users, together with the evidence described in Section 7
  • Feedback and support requests

3. PURPOSE OF PROCESSING

Your data is collected and processed for the following purposes:

  • Account creation and authentication
  • Providing core app features (e.g., messaging, profile viewing)
  • Age verification (for 18+ filtering)
  • The user's date of birth is collected and stored solely for age verification purposes and is never shared with any third parties.
  • Personalized content and matches
  • Security and misconduct reporting
  • Automated moderation of messages to prevent illegal and harmful content (see Section 7)
  • Legal compliance and dispute handling
  • Statistical analysis and product improvement

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING

Under GDPR and KVKK, we process your data based on:

  • Your explicit consent (for optional data)
  • Contractual necessity (for account functionality)
  • Legal obligations (e.g., tax or law enforcement)
  • Legitimate interests (e.g., fraud prevention, platform safety, automated moderation, analytics)

5. DATA RETENTION

  • Your data is retained as long as your account remains active.
  • When you delete your account, your profile information and photos are permanently deleted.
  • Messages, reports (including report evidence), moderation records and access/traffic logs are kept for 1 year to meet our legal obligations (including the traffic data obligations under Turkish Law No. 5651) and to handle safety reports and legal requests. After 1 year they are automatically deleted.
  • If you delete a conversation in the app, it is removed from your chat list; copies that are part of a report or moderation record are kept for the period above.
  • Data may be kept longer only where required by a court order or an ongoing legal process.

6. DATA STORAGE, ENCRYPTION & INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER

  • All data is stored securely on Google Firebase infrastructure.
  • Messages are encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and encrypted at rest on Google Firebase servers.
  • Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. This allows our automated systems to check messages for illegal content and allows authorized staff to review flagged or reported messages (see Section 7).
  • Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and stored only as secure hashes; we never see your password.
  • Access to message content is restricted to a small number of authorized staff for safety and legal purposes.

International Transfers

Your personal data may be stored on Firebase servers, which may be located outside of your country, including the United States or European Union member states. Message content checked by our moderation provider OpenAI (see Section 7) is processed on OpenAI servers, which may be located in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or other lawful transfer mechanisms, to ensure compliance with GDPR and KVKK requirements.

7. AUTOMATED MODERATION & REPORTS

To keep Mix Chat safe and to prevent illegal content such as drugs, weapons, gambling, prostitution and child sexual exploitation:

  • Messages (text and photos) are automatically checked by our own systems and by the OpenAI moderation service.
  • Messages that clearly violate our rules may be automatically hidden and are not delivered to the recipient. Other messages may be flagged for review.
  • Hidden or flagged messages may be reviewed by our authorized staff, who may restore the message, keep it hidden, or suspend the account.
  • OpenAI acts as a data processor on our behalf. It receives only the message content needed for the check and, according to its terms for API customers, does not use this data to train its models.
  • When you report a user, the most recent messages of that conversation are stored together with the report so that our team can review it.
  • Moderation records and report evidence are kept for 1 year and then automatically deleted (see Section 5).
  • Where required by law, illegal content and related account information may be shared with competent authorities.

8. THIRD-PARTY SHARING

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We use service providers (data processors) to run the app: Google Firebase (hosting, database, authentication, storage, notifications), OpenAI (automated message moderation), and Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics (advertising and analytics; these tools may collect device identifiers and usage data).
  • We may share data with competent public authorities when legally required.

9. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR / KVKK)

You have the right to:

  • Learn whether we process your data
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to processing or restrict processing
  • Withdraw consent (where applicable)
  • Object to decisions made solely by automated systems (for example, a hidden message), by contacting us
  • File a complaint with the KVKK Authority or EU Data Protection Authority

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

This app is only for users aged 18 or older. We have an age verification system in place. If a user under 18 is detected, their account is disabled and data removed.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy. Users will be notified of significant changes. Continued use of the app means acceptance of the updated policy.
